Hey
Sometimes i feel this urge to make a difference in the world, not just in one aspect but a number of different ones. But i don't know where to start or how to go about starting to make a difference.
There is nothing that i can find in my country that gives me the opportunity to help those less fortuneate than i, when i am still in school.
Most of my friends are in my MAD group but i don't feel like we are getting far fast... i don't know if thats because we cant choose something, if im doing something wrong, or people aren't as interested. We are starting a free after school program at our local primary which is kool. But for me personally i don't feel that that is what to do to make a difference... Sometimes i just feel useless, with to many ideas rushing through my head.
But yea, i should stop worrying and getting upset about little things like school wen some people can't even go to school.
Thats enough,
Catch ya l8a

Hey Ange,
I admire you for taking a stand in making a difference in the world! That's awesome. :)
But it seems like you have expectations on how 'making a difference' to the world is meant to look like...? And your expectations aren't being met.
Well 'making a difference' is a very broad concept, and it looks like you have a 'why' you want to make a difference, so why not figure out what aspect of the 'world' you want to make a difference in? Education? Poverty? Economy? Social Development? Youth? So on and so forth...
Pick one, then decide where you're going to make an impact on. Community? School? Local church? Family? Country? Work? All of these are part of the world and if you make a difference to one of them, you've ultimately made a difference to the world.
So you've got the why, what, where...and now the how. How do you see yourself (and others) making a difference in that area?
For example, a way could be to create a group of people who creates opportunities for others to participate in 'making a difference'...create a website that connects like-minded people to your cause...etc.
Then make some goals with your outcome in mind.
Anyway, that's just what I'm throwing into the mix. It may be a little fragmented in how I've set it out, but hopefully you get the jist of it and it'll give you something to think about at least. :)
By the way, adding you. :)

PS And I don't see your post as you making excuses.

I completely agree with Rerenga ...
I think you need to find an area that you want to change the most.
I mean, obviously, there are so many things in the world that we want to change, but we can't do it all!
So I reckon, start on one thing you're really passionate about right now, and then go from there.
Is there a local charity you could volunteer at?
Is there a cause you really want to publicise at your school?
To me, right now, it seems as if you're really interested in helping to reduce poverty, perhaps you could start an Oxfam group in your school, and start by selling white bands, and telling people what they symbolise, and what they are helping by buying one?
You could volunteer at the Oxfam office?
You could ask Oxfam for posters for you to stick up around your school ...
You could ask one of your teachers to see if they'd like to help you set up a 'Make Poverty History' group in your school .. ?
Or even, something more local to do, could be to help out at the City Mission? I know they have some huge events coming up ...
There are heaps of opportunites in New Zealand to help, you just have to look!
If you need any help with anything, don't be afraid to ask!

Amanda, i wasnt trying to make excuses, i was just letting my thoughts out and some people actually managed to show me how i can start to make a difference.
